Dear Readers---Thanks so much for sharing your questions and thoughts… While we planned to have interactive prayer as part of the ministry, we now are experiencing how God is opening the door for The Disciple Ship to be a place for us to ponder our questions of faith and life and service together and take the specific and share it more generally/broadly with a wider congregation. Knowing many are struggling with their witness in today’s crazy world, we will remove the “personal info” replacing names with ++++++ but share the questions and responses. This type of engaging in real life will be a regular part of The Disciple Ship as we paddle forward reevangelizing this nation and beyond.

So the first in this new aspect of our ministry is shared below. I hear this question in many different forms so I’m going to share my response to this individual with all of you, always hoping that faith will bloom new and energized and active. Hear me when I say, I don’t presume to have the answers but I do know that Jesus is the answer and so according to the Word I took a stab at it. — Jaynan

"Back in the day" before WordAlone Ministries (Network) closed up shop, Pr. Jaynan Clark attempted to start a program entitled "SALT." SALT was an acronym that meant, "salvation, life, and truth. The mantra was "Making disciples, not church members." (You can read the entire paper here). In this paper Jaynan describes "the three main aspects of SALT" and the first two are particularly pertinent to this Disciple Ship page.

1. Design a life-giving and sustaining prayer ministry that includes virtual, interactive prayer and a potential prayer “hot line” to meet people where they are and allow the Word to be planted in their home soil and daily life circumstances.

2. Hosting of encounters with the Living Word; events, revivals that take folks not to the mountain top but to the foot of the cross and the door of the empty tomb. These will be times of discernment and prayer focusing on the calling to be disciples, not just church members and what it means to follow and serve a Crucified and Risen Lord.

The spirit and, indeed, the essence of "SALT" is the basis of The Disciple Ship!
